Hooker on Kent St in the morning?

sooo Angelicar and I almost had a big accident yesterday morning. I saw this lady out of the corner of my eyes and was so distracted I almost drove right off the road!

I warn you that what you are about to see may contain scenes that are unsuitable for all humans... to think that some poor sheep gave its cute little wool to make this monstrosity also known as a one piece jumpsuit...

i have tried to depict it below in a sketch, but i'm sure that w/o the full colour it will be hard to appreciate the heinous fashion violation that was committed on August 20th, 2007. So that you can really visualize it, I will let you know that it was orange and pink.

please be prepared for the nightmares that may follow...

killed by a camel humping you??? WEIRD

this would totally suck!

********

BRISBANE, Australia -- A woman was killed by a pet camel given to her as a 60th birthday present after the animal apparently tried to have sex with her, police said yesterday.

The woman was killed Saturday about 600 km west of Brisbane when the 10-month-old male camel -- weighing about 300 lbs. -- knocked her to the ground, lay on top of her, then exhibited mating behaviour, police said.

Generations in the Workforce

i read this article a couple months ago and it was very very interesting. Summary - there are 4 different generations currently in the workforce and we all behave differently based on the experiences that have happend during our lives.

****************

For the first time ever in Canadian history, there are four generations of people on the work force at the same time. As so-called Traditionalists, Boomers, Gen Xers, and Gen Yers intersect in the workplace, their attitudes, ethics, values, and behaviours can sometimes lead to misunderstandings and potential conflict.

Traditionalists: Born between 1922 and 1945
Baby Boomers Born between 1946 and 1964
Gen Xers: Born between 1965 and 1980
Gen Yers: Born between 1981 and 1999

While most of us are sensitive to the role different cultural backgrounds play in people’s work and learning styles, their approaches to communication, and their attitudes toward authority and leadership, we might not have thought enough about age difference being a determining factor when it comes to workplace divisions.

Social scientists and demographers are now pointing to the differences between the generations as a strong variable determining interactions and work-styles in the workplace.

While a handful of sociologists differ as to the exact dates, the most popular division of the four generations is as follows:

Ghost Whisperer

stickmen make me smile

so when you have a bad day... what do you normally do? me?? i like to make stick people.... yes, i know this is odd. but i have had to evolve a bit b/c at first - simply googling stickmen was enough to fulfill that stickman urge... now that just isn't cutting it anymore... so i have started creating my own stickmen. Today was a REALLY REALLY bad day, so i've had to create a few stickmen throughout the day...

Here is a little preview of cathy portaging a canoe next weekend lol...

random ramglings

so figure i'm long overdue for some good blogging. i have no crazy bar stories lately, and no bizzare stories... so i hope i can keep your attention till the end of this... if not, no skin off my back.

The international chicken and rib cookoff started today! (more commonly known as Ribfest).... sooo good!!! :) :) we moseyed on over for lunch, we plan to go back again tomorrow to check out another rib vendor (today i went with the rib/chicken combo... i don't recommend the chicken... just not as good as the ribs...) Tomorrow i will try the pulled pork sandwhich.

my new job is going ok. somedays i feel like i don't use my brain, others i do... as long as the pay cheque comes in, thats all that matters to me right now... oh and i have collegues that appreciate my random cartoons and photoshop creations.

got my bluesfest ticket in the mail today :) woo hoo... concert season is upon us.

soccer is going good too, made a kid on my team cry the other day though... he kicked me in the ankle on purpose... so i yelled, then he cried, then i asked him why he was the one crying, i didn't kick him... then after soccer his mom made him appolagize (he cried again)... tonight was way better, minimal crying, we kicked the other teams ass (yes, my team is 4, 5, and 6 year olds and we still play to win! some people think that the important thing is to have fun... but we ALL know that winning is more fun that losing, even 4 year olds)

my new favourite thing is stickmen...weird i know... but they are just so fantastic for depicting stories :)

i'm really not exciting today... so i should end this here if i want to keep my readers :)

this sums up my week...

"I mean really... Just shut up."

Life in a Cube

Top 10 rules of life in a cube:
1. indoor voice
2. if you are going to wear crocs, not brush your hair, or wear a bad outfit – expect me to judge you internally (sometimes i NEED to point it out to Erin, who will join me in the judgement)
3. bring snacks for your neighbours
4. send flare on Fridays to cheer up everyone’s day (Flare=stickmen cartoons)
5. don’t stare at people when you walk by, BUT
6. don’t purposely stare in the other direction when you walk by
7. don’t have lengthly calls with your doctor if you don’t want your neighbours (and your neighbours neighbours to know your medical history)
8. don’t be mean – invite everyone for lunch, cube-mates have feelings too
9. we live in the world without walls - - you do not have to tell EVERYONE the exact same story, we can ALL here you the first time you tell the story.
10. indoor voice (cannot be stressed enough)

i'm still here!!!

i'm still here! i know its been awhile, but i'm still here and don't give up on my blog just yet! :) :) i still have lots of stories to tell, i'm just not able to tell them as often with my new job. i'm worried that they won't be as interested in my shoe stories, or random bits of info that i feel the urge to share. other than that, my new job is going great! :)

FIRST, i want to say thank you to everyone that came out to my art show the other weekend!!! It was such a great surprise to see each of you :), i mean, sure people say they will come, but showing up is sometimes a different story. its sooo hard to get up at 6am and pretend to be all cheerful on only 1 or 2 cups of coffee (i take at least 3 to be nice... haha), and having friends there definately helps!!!

so its only been a few months but i have decided to hire someone to clean my house. its not horribly messy, but it could definately be cleaner haha. i think i've found a company that has a good rate and seems to be reliable... so we'll see :) :) will keep you posted! :) :)

ew - girl on house hunters... BAD outfit!

speaking of bad outfits... crocs... again i must ask the question.. how did crocs become office wear??? i am appauled by how many people wear them at the office... ewwwwww (i judge them everytime they walk by)

oh and i have found a new love in the tim horton's breakfast sandwhich! my new colleague erin brought me one last week... HEAVEN! little drops of heaven i tell you!!! :) :)

sorry it wasn't very intersting... i hope to improve on my blog content over the next little while :) :)

Vancouver doctors report rare finding of man whose blood was green
Published: Thursday, June 7, 2007 | 8:05 PM ET

Canadian Press: HELEN BRANSWELL

TORONTO (CP) - The green blood came as a bit of a shock to Dr. Alana Flexman and her colleagues when they tried to put an arterial line into a patient about to undergo surgery in Vancouver's St. Paul's Hospital.
The 42-year-old man was already a bit of a medical departure. He'd fallen asleep while kneeling, and developed compartment syndrome in both legs.
The potentially dangerous condition involves a buildup of pressure in deep muscle tissue - in this case in the legs - and unless the pressure was relieved, permanent nerve damage could have been sustained.
As surgical staff prepared the man for the middle-of-the-night emergency operation, Flexman and a colleague attempted to insert a line into a wrist artery.
Arterial lines are used to monitor blood pressure during an operation; any blood that flows when the line is inserted into the artery should be vivid red, the sign it has been oxygenated in the heart.
But in this case, which occurred in October 2005, it was note.
"During insertion, we normally see arterial blood come out. That's how we know we're in the right place. And normally that blood is bright red, as you would expect in an artery," Flexman said in an interview Thursday.
"But in his case, the blood kept coming back as dark green instead of bright red."
"It was sort of a green-black. ... Like an avocado skin maybe."
The reaction in the room? "We were very concerned, obviously," said Flexman, who is training in anesthesia at the hospital.
Flexman and her colleagues report on the unusual case in this week's issue of the journal The Lancet.
Samples were rushed off to the lab, which quickly ruled out a dangerous condition called methemoglobin, in which the hemoglobin in the blood can't bind to oxygen.
While the lab worked, so did the operating team. The man came through the surgery well.
The next day the lab reported it had detected sulfhemoglobin, a condition thought to be triggered by some medications.
"It's so rare that we don't have a perfect understanding how it happens, but some drug donates a sulfur group that binds to the hemoglobin molecule and prevents it from binding to oxygen," Flexman explains. "And that gives it the green colour."
She and her colleagues believe the condition may have been brought on by the man's migraine medication, sumatriptan, which he was taking in higher-than-advised doses, though they can't prove it.

The best birthday present...

The first night of my bday celebrations was a huge sucess! thanks to all my peeps that came over to my house first for some sociables, those that went out to the bar, special thanks to those that that drove me there and home, those that bought me presents and drinks and those that laughed at bad outfits at the bar with me, oh and of course for my shiney, flashing clevage star necklace!! :) :) good times were definately had by all!!! (well at least by me...)

But i have to say, the best birthday present of the night had to be the outfit that this girl wore to the bar. it was almost as though she wore it just knowing it would bring me such glee and entertainment for the entire evening. what made it even better was that this was the same girl that i gave the boot too and banished from the Monday's Grace Rocks facebook group - - no talking smack on my group!!!

so yes, we are not sure what the reasoning was behind this look, and we knew that no one would believe us if we told you, so we got some pictures... compliments of Rachelle and her fantastic photography... (we also took a pic of some nice shoes so you can see how normal footwear looks) what this outfit consisted of was - - her monday's grace stalker shirt that her and her friends had made (apparently they were designed in cooperation with the band - - but somehow greg was unaware of this???), over this she had on a sleevless black shirt (that had a hood!), and a black pleated mini skirt that was made of that heavy polyester - - you know the type that used to be used for bar pants in the late 90's, early 2000's... (yes it was my 28th bday!!! and i'm dating myself here). BUT the best part of the outfit was the footwear. thanks to the close up picture we now know they were not just red socks, but red and pink striped socks that have what appears to be a little green alien on them. and WHITE sneakers!!!

kim's theory is that her freinds are bitches... mean horrible bitches... "yeah, you definately look great... you should totally wear that to the bar" snicker snicker... hee hee... we're going to totally show you up and you will look like a total loser, they probably thought in the back of their minds... i mean, honestly... i get that some of us have different style.. i like sequins, i dont' like boots over jeans, i like lots of crazy accessories, i don't like crocs, i like stilletos, i don't like bra straps showing that are totally a different colour... that sorta thing... BUT i would love to know if there is ANYONE out there that thinks that this outfit could in any way shape or form be considered 'stylish'...???

let Teri-kah continue with some more dinners, lunches, parties, sushi and martinis!!!! :) :)

Ewww Crocs - - finally people are getting it!

Swedish hospital may ban Crocs clogs due to static electricity

STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) - A Swedish hospital wants to ban its staff from wearing Crocs plastic clogs, saying they generate static electricity that can knock out medical equipment, a spokesman said Thursday.

Blekinge hospital in southern Sweden suspects the slip-on shoes made by U.S.-based Crocs Inc. are to blame for at least three incidents in which respirators and other machines malfunctioned. The mishaps caused no injuries.

Hospital spokesman Bjorn Lofqvist said there were similar problems with other shoes not designed for hospital use but the popularity of the Crocs had raised the issue to a new level.

"It's been a problem for many years but now there are so many people that have them," he said, adding officials were discussing whether the sandals should be banned throughout the hospital or just in certain sections.

Easter Weekend - total hit

So Easter weekend wasn't a bust for once! which was wonderful. sure i started off the weekend falling down the stairs at the live lounge on thursday night... but i did a quick recovery there and only a few people saw the oh so glamorous move.

Friday i went and painted all day long :) did a couple masterpieces that will sell for BILLIONS and make me rich and famous.

that night we went out to Hooley's (not to be confused with the old hoolihans... hooley's is the bar that took over where bravo bravo was - - oh the memories of one of my first real dinner dates). Hooley's was a good time... but what was even a better time was the shwarma stop after the bar!! MAROUSH MAROUSH... he even has a theme song!!!

Check it out on YouTube

It was TOTALLY hilarious... we all got full service - - even allan! ok... ok... thats a lie, allan didn't want 'full service'.

Sat had a great dinner and got a tonne done in the day on the house! :) (curtains are bought... having a minor problem with the curtain rods though b/c the previous owner didn't believe in wall plugs so things have to be redone)

And then sunday... went for brunch with the fam at kinki. it was sooo good!! we def ate our share of the all you can eat brunch! YUM! that night was a bit up and down... we were going to barrymores, not going to barrymores, going to barrymores, not going to barrymores... in the end we went to the pump (cathy and i), were having a lovely chat, when blaze showed up all proud that he got a stamp for barrymores... and that there was no line. so we were all going to meet there in 30 min. cathy, christina and i enjoyed ourselves... the others... ditched us :( we had a little cry... but then got over it.

ps - - there was a girl at hooleys wearing a white sundress with black polkadots!!! UNACCEPTABLE!!!!

pps - - a girl at barrymores told the bouncer that she didn't 'like his attitude'.. and then was all surprised when he pulled rank and told her she couldn't' come into the bar... i mean, honestly! we all know. don't piss off the bouncers!!! b/w the hours of 10pm and 3am... they are in charge of our worlds.

Stories of the Month

Hey :)

So I have been busy lately!!! Fixing up my new house. Having my new housemates move in, preparing for my art shows and my art gallery event at Gallery 7a (opening night is april 12!!! you are all invited).

AND most exciting of it all, I have gotten a new job!!!

I start at Fujitsu Consulting on April 30th. So not only is April 27th my bday! But its almost my last day at HAL. I have enjoyed my time here, but definitely time to move on.

I have been so busy I havn’t had time to write on my blog lately… and there have been some GREAT stories!!! including my favourite siting - - skin tight white pants paired with black patent hooker boots… the poor girl liked like a hooker - - although maybe she was, only they don’t typically work the St. Laurent/Coventry corner??? So that one is still out for debate. Havn’t been heading out to the bars much lately, so not too many bad bar outfits, but after this weekend I’m sure I’ll have a few good ones worth a blog :)

My next story… East end drivers!!! You are ALL CRAZY! I think that I should apply for the extended health care plan b/c I will definitely end up having a heart attack in the near future just driving to and from work!!! HOLY CRAP!!!

So yeah, those are my main stories…

Hope everyone is having a great month!!!

HAPPY EASTER!

PS - it snowed today - - AKA - - still too early for sandals!!!

How Nerdy are YOU?

My friend Jay had this on his blog... turns out i'm not that nerdy... but don't worry, it lies. i have have lots of nerdy friends and love you all! and no, don't watch reruns of star trek, but have been known to enjoy a good episode of 7th heaven :) xoxo

You Are 12% Nerdy

You are definitely not nerdy - in fact, you probably don't know any nerds.
You probably care a little too much about your image. No one will know if you secretly watch Star Trek reruns!

Good times this weekend

I havn't been posting very much lately b/c I have been way too busy moving all my stuff to my new house (holy crap i have a lot of stuff!!!) But this weekend I managed to set aside two nights for fun :)

Friday was ring night, a bunch of my friends were getting their iron ring (engineer thing), so we did some partying. My sister and i made a nice dinner, got ready, started drinking... and then one thing led to another and we were mixing malibu rum, crown royal and pepsi. but since we coudln't taste the malibu we kept adding more. we were so drunk that we had to send ourselves home at 12:30 from the bar. AND i would also like to mention that my scarf is now gone!!! i did coat check and when i went to get my coat... no scarf! so if you see any nice black scarve/shawl thing out shopping let me know!!!

luckily i wasn't hung over after that night of drinking b/c yesturday was another fun day. starting off with some quiznos for lunch then heading down to Minglewoods to watch Monday's Grace play. they were playing from 2-6, wasn't that busy at teh start, but got packed as the afternoon went on. few key phrases from the night include:

1. "I pitty the fool"
2. "I can look sober for 2 seconds"
3. "she didn't look hideous when she smiled"
4. "how old??? I don't believe you"

Also worth mentioning were the leprachan guys that had their little matching outfits tailored for the day!!! the weird old guy that wouldn't take subltle hints!!! three cheers to my new friends from Ottawa U that saved me from the weird guy with a dance off!!!

PS - - lulu lemon pants... not bar gear people...
pp2 - - it is customary to brush your hair before you go out to a bar, please spread the word b/c there were lots of people that missed that memo last time around.
ps3 - - milesontes serves FABULOUS FOOD!!!

why should scammers have all the fun?

I was listening to the radio thismorning and they were interviewing the Author Eve Edelson, who wrote Scamorama. And i was totally into it! We all get those emails requesting our help to save the family fortune, or help send a kid to school. But this lady started writing back to the people. and keeping track of all the emails and then published this book. It sounds great! the website is hilarious! www.scamorama.com

Most of you know my little issue last year, when i was almost scammed in a similar way. someone wanted to rent the room in my apartment, and said that they 'accidentally sent too much money' and could i cash teh travellers cheques and send the extra money back to africa... ummmm NO! luckily i caught on and called the cops and didnt' lose all that money...

so yeah, check out the website, have a good laugh, and maybe send back an email sometime to the next spam email you get.

I thought this example was a funny example... http://www.scamorama.com/munoogian_fadil.html the guy emailed back and forth and told the man in Dubai that they were best friend forever... and then stripped him of the title. i laughed!!!

I think that I will start writing back to these people... i can't wait!!!

Night of Rockin Out - What fun!!!

Well, its been awhile since I’ve had time to sit down and tell everyone my blogworthy stories. Sorry for the delay, its not that there hasn’t been blogworthy events going on, but I have just been so busy with the new house (which I take possession of in 11 days!!!), and I have a couple art showings that are going on right now too.

BUT I figured that enough excuses, get on this thing and keep my readers happy and informed!!! :):)

Last night ROCKED! Shannon & Greg bought a house too, so we were out celebrating our new purchases! :) Monday’s Grace put on a great show at Gracie’s. and no, I’m not biased… well I am (or maybe I was just drunk????). well regardless, they rocked… and it looked like Shannon and I weren’t the only two that though so. The regular groupies weren’t there though – I wonder how long it will take them to find the Monday’s grace group I created on facebook last night after the bar? haha).

For some reason the people at the bar appeared to have all gotten dressed with a mirror! There were a few unfortunate outfits. But for the most part people looked put together and there were no horrendous blogworthy outfits like usual. THERE was a lady that thought that you should do the twist to every song. But she was 40ish, so I will just chalk that up to age, at least she was out having fun.

Something worth mentioning though was this haircut… some girls think… wow.. layers, I should totally get some layers… well be careful with this… if you layer too much you may come out with a mullet. And Dog the bounty hunter can pull that off… but girls in their 20’s… not so much. haha, shannon's straw got stuck in the mullet for a bit!! that was hilarious!!!

Ohhh the drinks!!! Shannon and I made the most exquisite drinks! We used a spoon of orange juice concentrate and water (we didn’t have a juice jug), then 2 shots of pomegranate liquor, 1 shot of vanilla vodka, and then topped up with strawberry juice! YUMMY!!! (almost as good as the McD's we had at 3am!)

I was going to blog about this hottie in a red hoody from last night. But he didn’t dance :( that decreased his hotness for sure!

Oh and it was Derek’s bday… so happy birthday to Derek, I hope he had a great bday!

Back to packing my life away into boxes.

Next weekend I’m hitting up Toronto so I’ll definitely have some stories worth posting!!!

PS - Thanks for driving Greg!!!

sad story - hits close to home

My friend Miranda told me about this sad story about Chrissy Predham Newmana, a 28 year old Ottawa native who moved to St. John's two years ago and was recently murdered.

She was found slain and there is some suspicion around her estranged husband. Sadly, she is survived by a a 16 month old daughter (Ireland) who is now in protective custody as a result.

Miranda's co-worker (Shelly Cournya) is a friend of Chrissy's mother and has enthusiastically set up a trust fund for little Ireland. Shelly has been interviewed by the CBC and has managed to raise $11,000 so far but has another $14,000 to go in order to reach her target.

Chrissy is about our age... scary!!! makes it hit a bit closer to home eh?

odd news...

I just had to share this with people b/c i find it very odd. and as a fellow artist... i def don't see the 'art' behind cooking meatballs in human oils... GROSS!

That being said, i do still plan to go see Hannibal this weekend :)

*****

Meal fried in artist's own body fatFrom correspondents in Santiago January 13, 2007 09:12am

"BON APPETIT," said Chilean artist Marco Evaristti as he presented his friends with his newest creation: meatballs cooked with fat from his own body, extracted by liposuction.

"Ladies and gentleman, bon appetit and may god bless," said Evaristti, a glass in his hand, to his dining companions seated Thursday night around a table in Santiago's Animal Gallery.

On the plates in front of them was a serving of agnolotti pasta and in the middle a meatball made with oil Evaristti removed from his body in a liposuction procedure last year.

"The question of whether or not to eat human flesh is more important than the result," he said, explaining the point of his creation.

"You are not a cannibal if you eat art," he added.

Evaristti produced 48 meatballs with his own fat, some of which would be canned and sold for $US4000 dollars for 10.

A veteran at shock-art, in an earlier work Evaristti invited people to kill fish by pressing the button on a blender the fish were held in.

In April 2004 he dyed an enormous iceberg in Greenland with red paint.

Dan found this site somewhere, so I thought i'd give it a try. Turns out i act like i'm 23. Not sure if i should be happy about these results or not???

I bought a house!!!!

some of you have been following this story from the start, some of you may be caught off guard. but yep, thats right i bought a house!!! :) :)

the final condition was waived today. Had to jump through the financing hoop, the home inspection hoop and finally the condo certificate.

As of March first i will be the proud new owner of 2078 Eric Cres. A nice 4 bedroom, townhouse condo with a garage (this was very important to me... perhaps this makes me a princess, but i just have no desire to scrape ice and snow off my car each day, or drive to work so that my car can just start to be 'warm when i arrive). One of the rooms is perfect for an art studio!!! :) one will store all my shoes (and be a guest room), and i hope to rent the 4th one out - so if you know anyone let me know! :)

Climbing a mountain for fun????

You can all breath again, NO its not me! lol...

So my friend Amy is in the process of embarking on a big adventure... she has decided that it would be 'fun' to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Its not just for fun though, its for a good cause. she is raising money for CARE Canada. Each person going has to pay 100% of their own costs, but ALSO raise a set amount of money to donate. (at least i think thats how it works)...

For me - - this just brings back horrible memories of being stuck in a hole on the side of Mt. St. Helen's (waiting for my friends to rescue me - - after then let rob laugh and take pictures!!!) - - what was i thinking?? ME climbing an active volcano?? Honestly, I'd rather be hit by a car again!!!?!? However, the whole trip wasn't that bad, sheli and i discovered Pay Less shoes for the first time, lost our hotel in banff, spent a whole afternoon in the vancouver aquarium gift shop, and the term Gretchen was invented... hee hee. OH and the button shop! can't forget the button shop.
BUT back to the important side of things... my crazy friend that is going to do this purely for fun (not to miss 2 weeks of school in grade 11), oh sorry, i meant, not for fun, but to raise money for a good cause...

So, Amy is trying to raise money ... if you are interested in reading more about this... or want to blog about it on your own blog totally feel free!!! - -

To read more about amy's preparation, donations etc. check out her website. To read more about the climb visit. www.climbforcare.ca. (if you donate, dont' forget to pick AMY CAMPBELL from the list of climbers!!)

Vogue'y Robot???

Last night i went to barrymores with some friends and had a fanstastic time - we had to leave early to make it to a new year's eve party, but during those couple hours that we were at the bar we had a very fun time.

There was this girl... and i'm not sure if she new what the 90's era was all about when it came to wardrobe. i know when people go to 80's night at barrymores they tend to dress up, and usually people get that right. can't go wrong really with 80's clothing.

BUT this girl last night attempted a 90's look... this is what her outfit consisted of (i have included pictures to help give you a visual). She had on a school girl kilt, a grey tank top, a baggy plaid shirt (that steph pointed out was - mismatched plaid!!! - i was too focused on the bad choice of footware to notice the plaid!) - - hicking shoes/skater shoes... not really sure what they were and white socks. And the best part - - she was doing this vogue / robot dance!!! it was just a very confusing look, grunge meets school girl meats madona vogue??? But this girl, even in her 'wicked hot outfit' *sense some sarcasm there please* - - totally couldn't keep up with alicia's moves - - who patented the 'fax machine' and 'thigh master' version of the running man... Both VERY VERY cool!

I must also share about the new year's party b/c i'm sure some are wondering about that. some friends of friends were throwing this party - - b/c no one was around for the real new years. turns out i knew some of the people that lived there. it was great! i can't wait to have my own house so i can turn my basement into a little dance floor! i miss house parties where you can just bust a move in the basement!!! basement parties were/are the best! Great evening out!!!

Email Fraud Warning

this isn't a hoax... came from 580 CFRA's website:

OPP Warn of Email Scam Josh Pringle Tuesday, January 9, 2007

Ontario Provincial Police are warning the public of a fraudulent email that identifies itself as coming from the Department of Finance Canada.

The OPP says the message promises its recipients a tax refund if they fill out and submit what looks like a government form.

Police warn if you fill out the form, it will compromise the individual's credit card and social security information.

Seth - you will be missed!!!

I have been an Adam Brody fan since back in the day when he was on Gilmore Girls. (he was Laings dorky boyfriend), then I went to the theatre to watch Grind (a fabulous skateboarding movie he was in) - sure christina and i were the only people over the age of 16, and probably the only people that had bathed that week, but thats ok... Adam Brody outdid himself in that movie and we were very very pleased! :) :)

sooo to my point. if you havn't heard the news already - - the OC will end this season... according to one article I read, they think it failed b/c Marissa Cooper died, and she was the star of the show!! I DO NOT THINK SO!!! i mean, that girl could NOT act at all!!!

Where to begin???

Last night was a fun night out, but there were quite a few blog-worthy things, at one point i thought - gee i should get a notepad to keep track!

First i jumped on the fabulous #3 bus that always gets me where i want to go. I arrived at Shannon and Greg's with enough time for Shannon and I down a bottle of blueberry wine and assist greg in picking the perfect t-shirt to bring out his rockstar attributes.

Then off we went to Pier 21. I arrived thinking that people have put summer behind us, there is no more being confused - there is now snow on the ground - - but alas, some people have still not noticed that it is no longer summer... FLIP FLOPS!!! yeah, that is right, some chick was wearing flip flops at the bar!!! and i lost track of all the other summer outfits that i was seeing... for a society that loves to shop, we certainly forget that its ok to have two, even four wardrobes for the different season's. I know that its not easy to buy a WHOLE new wardrobe, that is why they made accessories and shoes!!! change them up to go with the season!!!!

The other outfit that is definately worth mentioning was the creamy white see through tank top, very nice sheer fabric, sorta flowy. problem being that she wore a black bra with it??? - - and even worse, she forgot to cut the white (glow in the black light) hanger strap things off. There were a tonne of girls there with bras that didn't match their shirts. i'm not talking colour - - i'm talking slyle. you wear a halter shirt, wear a friggen halter bra or a strapless! and the 'invisible straps'... the plastic ones... NOT SO INVISSIBLE!!! I can see them!!!

i will say that there were quite a few hair styles at the bar that i plan to attempt. I got a big barrel curling iron before xmas and I am very pumped to give it a shot.

and that was my evening out... bad outfits but good hair.

As usual Monday's Grace played fabulously - if you are curious about this band i always write about, they will be a Gracie's (west) every thursday for quite awhile in the new year. go check them out!

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVERYONE!!! hope you have all found something fun to do to celebrate!

Fleece... public or private??? statement or problem???

The questions i pose for my readers today - - Fleece pants... are these public attire, or private attire??? Are they a fashion statement or a fashion problem???

As i know, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. HOWEVER this is my blog, so well, obviously you get to read MY opinion... and i would say that fleece pants fall into the same category as crocs.

they may be comfortable, but take a look at the picture??? can anyone argue that these are NOT totally unflattering to ANY body type??? I have seen sooooo many people of all ages wearing fleece pants lately (and its not even that cold yet!!!). This past weekend a lady was sporting fleece pants with a button up blouse??? talk about confusing. perhaps she was going to a semi formal and got confused that it just meant that you were only sorta dressed up... not 1/2 dressed up , and 1/2 dressed like a slob?

But i will say that they have a place in society. unlike crocs, fleece pants are not very practical at the beach. but they would be great for ski hills, chalets, lounging around the house in the winter. But similar to crocs, they do not belong in the office, at art shows, at fancy restaurants, or weddings.

PS - i also saw a man in the elevator the other day (at 5:30) wearing full flannel pjs!!! i think I'd prefer fleece pants to seeing a grown man strutting around in public in his flannel pjs.

Jimiriquois LOVES Christmas!!!!

Dear Friends & Family ,
I wanted me to say hello. I left right after the HAL christmas party for a quick visit to Paris. Jimmy loves the holiday season
Check out my awesome sweater!

Love,
Jimiriquois

ps - I had a dance recietal in Paris, I was the lead elf in the nutcracker elf version http://www.elfyourself.com/?userid=7b76ec1eb660a9afd962b9cG06121510

And the winner is..... ME!!!

Last night was my company Christmas Party. And it was fantastic, primarily because I WON!!! I finally won the eagle award! FINALLY! some of you may remember me ranting about this last year... and how i deserved it... well i won!!

I'm sure the majority of people reading this are now thinking - - what the hell is the eagle award! well this award is given to an employee (or spouse) each year for outstanding achievements...such as organization, putting up with your spouse working long hours or constantly being overseas, organizing great events...etc. I won it b/c I'm the 'glue'. yes, that is what was said, i hold the company together. I am always smiling, I take on all the jobs asked of me, regardless of how trivial they are (little do they know that while I'm smiling I'm inwardly grumbling and thinking - - i will def blog about this tomorrow!).

The eagle award was originally a big plastic eagle, but there is usually a lot of wine at our parties and back in 1988 the eagle was dropped, so the head was salvaged, and a new body was created out of wood. Recently the birds beak has gotten chipped - I plan to fix this with a little arts and crafts day.

Jimiriquois is currently hanging in the hallway at home... yes, i named the eagle... he has the initials J something something on it... and i thought (7 glasses of wine later, that jimiriquois just sounded PERFECT for an eagles name). Just wait... I plan to elf the Jimmy later today.

Now for my acceptance speech! 4 glasses of wine later, i sound sooo professional, as i talk about ridiculous things! but apparently i was funny... drunk - funny - - - funny - drunk.... yeah, prity much the same thing. oh well. I WON!!! that's all that matters... its not about "trying" - - its about WINNING!!!!

I've Got a Pearl Necklace!

GET YOUR MIND OUTTA THE GUTTER!!!

that is NOT what i was talking about!!! :) lol... now for those of you who are now wondering... what? how could a pretty necklace made of pearls be taken as gross and dirty... well, if you are not on a public computer go check the following link - http://www.londonslang.comcom for another meaning of pearl necklace.

So back to my new pearl necklace :) tonight I went to sassy bead for a pearl knotting class. Sounnds easy... but not so. I now have the hang of it though and finished my necklace tonight once I got home while I watched Laguna Beaches Season Finale (love my smutty TV!)

Mine is a lot prettier than this one, but gives you an idea of what I did. Mine is pale purple (and the silk thread matches! OF COURSE). Anyways, the reason pearls get knotted is so that when the necklace breaks the pearls don't go flying all over the place - like you see in the movies... SO NOT REAL!

Ctrl X Ctrl V Ctrl X Ctrl V - I have pinky tremmors!!! I need McDreamy!

Today (and every day at work since last thrusday) all i have done is stared at the computer screen, and hit Ctrl X Ctrl V Ctrl X Ctrl V Ctrl X Ctrl V Ctrl X Ctrl V... every now and then i'll hit Ctrl+Shift and use the arrows a bit... but for the most part its Ctrl X Ctrl V Ctrl X Ctrl V Ctrl X Ctrl V Ctrl X Ctrl V... over and over again. oh and sometimes Ctrl Z for when i screw up and have to undo.

So tonight around 6:55 when i was on entry 8364 of 9987 - in the Manitoba PI category, I started to develop a tremmor in my pinky on my left hand. I tried to ignore it as best I could, but then the tremmor starting consuming my life and I could no longer continue with the Ctrl X Ctrl V Ctrl X Ctrl V ... and at 7:28 I threw the towel in... so close to my goal of 9987... but yet sooo far!!! (i had started this province at 4:40... so i had accomplished quite a bit...).

My new coat- soooo soft and cuddly!

I love my new coat. I don't know if I wrote about it after the Vintage Clothing sale, but either way, i'm writing about it again b/c I wore it today and thought - gee I love my coat.

Its a brilliant blue wool coat, double breasted, knee length, and has a belted tie around the waist. AND a fox colar! a gorgeous soft fox colar! I seriously sit and pet my colar when i'm standing around.

I also have another awesome fur jacket this year. My mom bought me the cutest little cape-jacket for my bday last year for a GREAT deal at a second hand store.

oh and for those of you who don't agree with people wearing fur, thats ok - i don't agree with lots of fashion choices people make, but i've been told by some people that there is freedom of fashion or something like that... (which does not include white strappy sandals in the winter! or track pants to a restaurant or most social outings for that matter!)

Are you creative???

I'm contemplating hosting a Stampin Up party - - a what??? you may ask... yep, a stamp party. this is similar to a tupperware party, or a candle party. where I invite all the girls (or those few creative guys... ok... who are we kidding it'll be all girls). And we get a demonstration of how cool these products are for various things - - most of the time they are used for card making and scrapbooking. BUT for those of us that think outside the box... they are ALSO fabulous for mixed media painting, and pottery.

soooo what i'm saying is... if you are into creative stuff, or if you know someone that is into this stuff... let me know so they get the invite! :) :)

Not much going on...

There isn't a whole lot going on in my life right now that is entertaining... something going on everynight, but nothing that makes for good story writing.

I have been keeping busy on the weekends with my art shows, planning the new years event, work is sorta slow right now. For those of you who know me well, know the other work stuff going on...with the job hunt. I was down in Toronto for an interview monday, and have a few more interviewy things coming up - - in my line of work they arn't 'real interviews' like most of your are accustomed to. I network, meet people, have coffee with them, or go into their office. and then if they like me, and have enough work, they think of bringing another consultant on staff. But you can't really browse monster or those other sites hoping to find postings... cuz they dont' exist.

Tonight i'm off to the Clocktower for some WICKED artichoke and spinach dip! YUMM!!! last night was wing night with some freinds. tomorrow is pottery and Heart and Crown... saturday i want to dance... feel the need to go out and ridicule some outfits (i'm sure there are still some unfortunate soles that havn't put away their flip flops for the winter, and someone has to be out at the bars judging them!!! haha). Sunday night is movie night for the James Bond movie - i hear its not fabulous, but hey, hes cute... so why not?

If you read this and are in ottawa - - come see my art show this weekend!!! Nepean Sportsplex!

Shopping with Teri - Examples

For the first day of Shopping with Teri I had a few things to post and share with you:

  1. Chapters- 20% off almost everything in store this Sunday
  2. RW&Co (Bloor Street West in Toronto) - 20% off last ticketed price on Wed Nov 22 from 5-8pm
  3. Special VIP evening at Tommy and Lefebvre.

If deals such as this interest you, please visit Shopping with Teri on a regular basis, because this is where I'll now be posting deals like this instead of emailing them out whenever I get them.

Shopping With Teri - You Snooze You Lose

I tend to get a lot of emails about sales and events going on in the Ottawa region. So with a friends suggestion, I decided that instead of overloading Teri's Stories with info on deals around town and super fun events, I would start this new blog Shopping With Teri - You Snooze You Lose.

Please enjoy! :)

Back Pain :(

A lot of you have heard me complain about my back pain lately, and those that know me from back in the day remember my really really bad cramps….

Guess I should post a general warning before I continue.

*** PG 13 – the following post is about ‘girl stuff’ – if you get queasy talking about tampons and such, please stop reading ***

So yeah, I was diagnosed with endometriosis back in 2nd year (1999), had surgery, some of the growths lazered off, and was put on depo provera. This probably all sounds odd, so if you are interested please read on.

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue that looks and acts like the lining of the uterus grows outside of the uterus in other areas. These areas can be called growths, tumours, implants, lesions, or nodules.

Pain is one of the most common symptoms of endometriosis. Usually the pain is in the abdomen, lower back, and pelvis. The amount of pain a woman feels does not depend on how much endometriosis she has. Some women have no pain, even though their disease affects large areas. Other women with endometriosis have severe pain even though they have only a few small growths. The pain often correlates to the menstrual cycle, but a woman with endometriosis may also experience pain that doesn’t correlate to her cycle. For many women, the pain of endometriosis is so severe and debilitating that it impacts their lives in significant ways.

Endometriosis can also cause scar tissue and adhesions to develop that can distort a woman’s internal anatomy. In advanced stages, internal organs may fuse together, causing a condition known as a "frozen pelvis." (How creepy does that sound!!!) It is estimated that 30-40% of women with endometriosis are infertile.

Now jumping back to depo provera. This is ‘the needle’. Depo-Provera is a contraceptive or birth control product which is injected every 3 months. This drug is very controversial due to the bone density loss that may be irreversible. But for now I’ll take bone loss over growths, tumours, implants, lesions, or nodules any day. Especially b/c when your on Depo you don’t’ get a period! Woo hoo!

I was on Danazol for a while to combat the back pain associated with the endometriosis, but didn’t want that to become a long term solution (there are some SCARY side effects when you start taking steroids– she says in her manly voice haha). The main reason I went off Danazol though was because I plan to join the Canadian Bobsled Team, and as Ben Johnson showed us, danazol has no place in the Olympics.

And that is why my back hurts.

Breakfast Pita's

I have a new found love for breakfast pitas. I just had one for lunch (with my spinach salad) toasted with a little magarine on it. and i must say YUMMY - although not as good as the beef at the wine and food... but you can't have beef everyday (or could you....???)

For more info on Breakfast Pitas please visit their website www.pitabreak.com

Today I went over to Carolyn and Rob’s place and not only did I score an amazing dinner, but I also got to go visit the COWS!!! I’m sure most of you are confused by my fascination with cows, and probably think that I’m just BS’g you all, but really… I think cows are great! Not just for the leather, the meat and the chocolate milk, but look how cute they are!!! This was just the best day! I went shopping (fabulous deals at la vie en rose!), and visited not one farm, but two farms!

The first picture is me and Teri Cow. She is around 1 and a half right now. She has dark brown hair and little horns that will grow a bit more.

Drinks drinks and more drinks - and some beef

Today was a busy day in the world of Teri. Started out with sleeping till 12:00… then some wine and food at the Congress Centre. What can I say??? Drunk by 1:30 and HAMMMMMEERRED by oh, 2:00. I give a huge shout out to the Alberta Beef! Not much else to say about wine and food show, I was on a mission to find the best boxed wine… and have some front runners that I shall test out at some house parties.

The interesting story is from when I got home (still feeling the red wine) and attempt to make my kraft dinner. All was going well, till I realized I forgot about it in the kitchen… so I go in and notice that instead of cooking my KD I’m burning a hole through the cookie sheet. SMOOOTH Teri!! Smooth! But that worked out, and I got some KD to soak up the wine so that I could move onto drinking part two of the evening! :) :)

MONDAY’S GRACE!!!!!

I have written about them before, but I still stand by the fact that they are great. Went downtown with Shannon and Greg, met some friends and some new people. Lots of good times and great dancing (give me some red bull vodka’s and I’m a MACHINE!)

However… there were a few problems encountered in the evening.

  1. Shannon and I almost got into a fight with these two B!che$. stupid 19 year olds flipping their hair on me, stepping on our feet. For gods sake the dance floor was almost empty, we were standing on the side and there was TONNES of room in front of them… sooooo we may have gotten into a ‘heated discussion’… ending with them running to tell their boyfriends how horrible we were… WHATEVER we were there with the BAND! - - Shannon, next time we’ll take them!!!
  2. Then there was this horrible girl who was poking and making fun of this handicapped man who was taking a quick nap while his two friends danced!!! (I yelled at her!!!)
  3. The fashion problems are ENDLESS from this evening!!! The most important thing to mention is the girl who was wearing a white eyelet mini skirt!!! (she obviously thought that she should wear her white flowered skirt in honour of the snowfall we had today!

PS - I got to carry a piece of the drums to the car tonight… (good thing Greg didn’t know about the Kraft dinner incident, or else he may not have trusted drunk Teri with such an item!)

PPS - going to see Teri Cow tomorrow!!!!! and to the 50% off sale at la vie en rose!!! Can't wait!

The Great Canadian Cabin and the Secret Entrance

sooo on Thursday i went to the Cabin for country music and cheap rye night. I had a great time, once I figured out where the bar was. You may think this would be an easy task considering I’ve been a frequent drinker at the establishment for over 8 years, but this was not the case.

we truck on up to the front door, pull on the door a few times to discover its locked (of course no one outside bothers saying anything to us so we look wicked cool all confused). We ask someone smoking whats going on and turns out that the entrance is now on the side...

so we walk back down dalhousie, past the money mart - and back to this canopy - - which we had just walked by and were loudly saying "wow, wonder what bar this is?" (of course neither of the bouncers says 'this is the cabin').

so yeah... new look... new music and new entrance..(NO SIGN!)

And the new set up is like a holding take. You are ushered into the bar thinking… great there is only a 40 min line up. You get inside, then realize there is ANOTHER line inside to go upstairs. But at least you can drink, and at least you aren’t outside in –40 weather.

So my advice for you - - beware of the secret hidden line and don’t lose your friends on a different floor. Oh and if you are 19 keep going to the cabin on Fridays and Saturdays (simply b/c I don’t want you at my regular bars)… - - but that is for the NEXT blog entry!!!!

New Years Eve - YOU ARE INVITED!!!

I know its early. But I wanted to invite EVERYONE and anyone (well except those few of you that are reading this that i don't like...hee hee... just kidding... your all invited!)

Combining a huge curling bonspiel, all day entertainment, and an all you can eat buffet with a blow out New Year's Eve party is how the New Year's CHEO Spiel will raise funds for the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario. You can come to the daytime curling bonspiel, or the dinner, or just the party, or any combo of the three. (i would like to point out that the drinks are good prices!!!)

Subject: English will be the official language of the European Union

Got this from my mom today and thought it was funny and worth sharing.

*********************

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5 year phase-in plan that would become known as "Euro-English".

In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of "k". This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter.
There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible.
Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters, which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling.

Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent "e" in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.

By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th"
with "z" and "w" with "v".

During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensi bl riten styl.

Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru.

Un defter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forst plas.

ps - today i am wearing my comfortable hush puppy suede boots.

Please explain how this is "odd"

http://news.yahoo.com/

Check out the last entry under 'odd news' - - do you find it odd that Canada doesn't want the pedofile to live here when the choice is "go to Canada for 3 years, or live in jail here in the US" - - if hes not safe for their streets, why would he be safe for ours? AND WHY IS THIS CLASSIFIED AS ODD NEWS?!?!? unless the writer actually agrees with Canada, and thinks that its odd that a Judge could hand down a sentence sooo ridiculous!

Who Wears Crocs????? - - ITS ME ITS ME!!!

Perhaps what they say about the air in Vancouver is true???? YES this is me wearing crocs… and yes, that is a smile on my face… but perhaps it has something to do with all that clean air in Vancouver, or the plastic from the ugly shoes had somehow gotten into my bloodstream and was confusing me… either way… check out the teal crocs… and look they even have a Jibbitz on them!!!

NO – I did NOT buy crocs while there. My sister emailed me right away when she saw the picture horrified that I had gone to the dark side. Kim – have no fear, I have not become some incense burning, plastic shoe wearing granola cruncher (to those of you who are, that’s totally ok by me, just you prob won’t become best buds with me or my sis…buds maybe, but prob not best buds… its aaah, cuz of our allergies to incense... ya that’s right. So Kim when you come home from Australia, I will still be prancing around town in my leather coat, stilettos and other faaaabulous articles of clothing!

Winter White... indeed!

I have found a pair of white boots that even I would wear in the winter - - (friends/family I hope you agree with me on this pair...but if not... thats ok too...)

These were on Shoewawa this week... and I have to say. they are really really nice!! and would def not count in the inapropriate footwear count... b/c they are NOT white strappy sandals or flip flops... (which i have to mention are not ok in ANY colour now that its almost november, and we have had our first snow fall!)
