Where to begin???

Last night was a fun night out, but there were quite a few blog-worthy things, at one point i thought - gee i should get a notepad to keep track!

First i jumped on the fabulous #3 bus that always gets me where i want to go. I arrived at Shannon and Greg's with enough time for Shannon and I down a bottle of blueberry wine and assist greg in picking the perfect t-shirt to bring out his rockstar attributes.

Then off we went to Pier 21. I arrived thinking that people have put summer behind us, there is no more being confused - there is now snow on the ground - - but alas, some people have still not noticed that it is no longer summer... FLIP FLOPS!!! yeah, that is right, some chick was wearing flip flops at the bar!!! and i lost track of all the other summer outfits that i was seeing... for a society that loves to shop, we certainly forget that its ok to have two, even four wardrobes for the different season's. I know that its not easy to buy a WHOLE new wardrobe, that is why they made accessories and shoes!!! change them up to go with the season!!!!

The other outfit that is definately worth mentioning was the creamy white see through tank top, very nice sheer fabric, sorta flowy. problem being that she wore a black bra with it??? - - and even worse, she forgot to cut the white (glow in the black light) hanger strap things off. There were a tonne of girls there with bras that didn't match their shirts. i'm not talking colour - - i'm talking slyle. you wear a halter shirt, wear a friggen halter bra or a strapless! and the 'invisible straps'... the plastic ones... NOT SO INVISSIBLE!!! I can see them!!!

i will say that there were quite a few hair styles at the bar that i plan to attempt. I got a big barrel curling iron before xmas and I am very pumped to give it a shot.

and that was my evening out... bad outfits but good hair.

As usual Monday's Grace played fabulously - if you are curious about this band i always write about, they will be a Gracie's (west) every thursday for quite awhile in the new year. go check them out!

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVERYONE!!! hope you have all found something fun to do to celebrate!

Fleece... public or private??? statement or problem???

The questions i pose for my readers today - - Fleece pants... are these public attire, or private attire??? Are they a fashion statement or a fashion problem???

As i know, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. HOWEVER this is my blog, so well, obviously you get to read MY opinion... and i would say that fleece pants fall into the same category as crocs.

they may be comfortable, but take a look at the picture??? can anyone argue that these are NOT totally unflattering to ANY body type??? I have seen sooooo many people of all ages wearing fleece pants lately (and its not even that cold yet!!!). This past weekend a lady was sporting fleece pants with a button up blouse??? talk about confusing. perhaps she was going to a semi formal and got confused that it just meant that you were only sorta dressed up... not 1/2 dressed up , and 1/2 dressed like a slob?

But i will say that they have a place in society. unlike crocs, fleece pants are not very practical at the beach. but they would be great for ski hills, chalets, lounging around the house in the winter. But similar to crocs, they do not belong in the office, at art shows, at fancy restaurants, or weddings.

PS - i also saw a man in the elevator the other day (at 5:30) wearing full flannel pjs!!! i think I'd prefer fleece pants to seeing a grown man strutting around in public in his flannel pjs.

Jimiriquois LOVES Christmas!!!!

Dear Friends & Family ,
I wanted me to say hello. I left right after the HAL christmas party for a quick visit to Paris. Jimmy loves the holiday season
Check out my awesome sweater!

Love,
Jimiriquois

ps - I had a dance recietal in Paris, I was the lead elf in the nutcracker elf version http://www.elfyourself.com/?userid=7b76ec1eb660a9afd962b9cG06121510

And the winner is..... ME!!!

Last night was my company Christmas Party. And it was fantastic, primarily because I WON!!! I finally won the eagle award! FINALLY! some of you may remember me ranting about this last year... and how i deserved it... well i won!!

I'm sure the majority of people reading this are now thinking - - what the hell is the eagle award! well this award is given to an employee (or spouse) each year for outstanding achievements...such as organization, putting up with your spouse working long hours or constantly being overseas, organizing great events...etc. I won it b/c I'm the 'glue'. yes, that is what was said, i hold the company together. I am always smiling, I take on all the jobs asked of me, regardless of how trivial they are (little do they know that while I'm smiling I'm inwardly grumbling and thinking - - i will def blog about this tomorrow!).

The eagle award was originally a big plastic eagle, but there is usually a lot of wine at our parties and back in 1988 the eagle was dropped, so the head was salvaged, and a new body was created out of wood. Recently the birds beak has gotten chipped - I plan to fix this with a little arts and crafts day.

Jimiriquois is currently hanging in the hallway at home... yes, i named the eagle... he has the initials J something something on it... and i thought (7 glasses of wine later, that jimiriquois just sounded PERFECT for an eagles name). Just wait... I plan to elf the Jimmy later today.

Now for my acceptance speech! 4 glasses of wine later, i sound sooo professional, as i talk about ridiculous things! but apparently i was funny... drunk - funny - - - funny - drunk.... yeah, prity much the same thing. oh well. I WON!!! that's all that matters... its not about "trying" - - its about WINNING!!!!

I've Got a Pearl Necklace!

GET YOUR MIND OUTTA THE GUTTER!!!

that is NOT what i was talking about!!! :) lol... now for those of you who are now wondering... what? how could a pretty necklace made of pearls be taken as gross and dirty... well, if you are not on a public computer go check the following link - http://www.londonslang.comcom for another meaning of pearl necklace.

So back to my new pearl necklace :) tonight I went to sassy bead for a pearl knotting class. Sounnds easy... but not so. I now have the hang of it though and finished my necklace tonight once I got home while I watched Laguna Beaches Season Finale (love my smutty TV!)

Mine is a lot prettier than this one, but gives you an idea of what I did. Mine is pale purple (and the silk thread matches! OF COURSE). Anyways, the reason pearls get knotted is so that when the necklace breaks the pearls don't go flying all over the place - like you see in the movies... SO NOT REAL!

Ctrl X Ctrl V Ctrl X Ctrl V - I have pinky tremmors!!! I need McDreamy!

Today (and every day at work since last thrusday) all i have done is stared at the computer screen, and hit Ctrl X Ctrl V Ctrl X Ctrl V Ctrl X Ctrl V Ctrl X Ctrl V... every now and then i'll hit Ctrl+Shift and use the arrows a bit... but for the most part its Ctrl X Ctrl V Ctrl X Ctrl V Ctrl X Ctrl V Ctrl X Ctrl V... over and over again. oh and sometimes Ctrl Z for when i screw up and have to undo.

So tonight around 6:55 when i was on entry 8364 of 9987 - in the Manitoba PI category, I started to develop a tremmor in my pinky on my left hand. I tried to ignore it as best I could, but then the tremmor starting consuming my life and I could no longer continue with the Ctrl X Ctrl V Ctrl X Ctrl V ... and at 7:28 I threw the towel in... so close to my goal of 9987... but yet sooo far!!! (i had started this province at 4:40... so i had accomplished quite a bit...).

My new coat- soooo soft and cuddly!

I love my new coat. I don't know if I wrote about it after the Vintage Clothing sale, but either way, i'm writing about it again b/c I wore it today and thought - gee I love my coat.

Its a brilliant blue wool coat, double breasted, knee length, and has a belted tie around the waist. AND a fox colar! a gorgeous soft fox colar! I seriously sit and pet my colar when i'm standing around.

I also have another awesome fur jacket this year. My mom bought me the cutest little cape-jacket for my bday last year for a GREAT deal at a second hand store.

oh and for those of you who don't agree with people wearing fur, thats ok - i don't agree with lots of fashion choices people make, but i've been told by some people that there is freedom of fashion or something like that... (which does not include white strappy sandals in the winter! or track pants to a restaurant or most social outings for that matter!)

Are you creative???

I'm contemplating hosting a Stampin Up party - - a what??? you may ask... yep, a stamp party. this is similar to a tupperware party, or a candle party. where I invite all the girls (or those few creative guys... ok... who are we kidding it'll be all girls). And we get a demonstration of how cool these products are for various things - - most of the time they are used for card making and scrapbooking. BUT for those of us that think outside the box... they are ALSO fabulous for mixed media painting, and pottery.

soooo what i'm saying is... if you are into creative stuff, or if you know someone that is into this stuff... let me know so they get the invite! :) :)

Not much going on...

There isn't a whole lot going on in my life right now that is entertaining... something going on everynight, but nothing that makes for good story writing.

I have been keeping busy on the weekends with my art shows, planning the new years event, work is sorta slow right now. For those of you who know me well, know the other work stuff going on...with the job hunt. I was down in Toronto for an interview monday, and have a few more interviewy things coming up - - in my line of work they arn't 'real interviews' like most of your are accustomed to. I network, meet people, have coffee with them, or go into their office. and then if they like me, and have enough work, they think of bringing another consultant on staff. But you can't really browse monster or those other sites hoping to find postings... cuz they dont' exist.

Tonight i'm off to the Clocktower for some WICKED artichoke and spinach dip! YUMM!!! last night was wing night with some freinds. tomorrow is pottery and Heart and Crown... saturday i want to dance... feel the need to go out and ridicule some outfits (i'm sure there are still some unfortunate soles that havn't put away their flip flops for the winter, and someone has to be out at the bars judging them!!! haha). Sunday night is movie night for the James Bond movie - i hear its not fabulous, but hey, hes cute... so why not?

If you read this and are in ottawa - - come see my art show this weekend!!! Nepean Sportsplex!

Shopping with Teri - Examples

For the first day of Shopping with Teri I had a few things to post and share with you:

  1. Chapters- 20% off almost everything in store this Sunday
  2. RW&Co (Bloor Street West in Toronto) - 20% off last ticketed price on Wed Nov 22 from 5-8pm
  3. Special VIP evening at Tommy and Lefebvre.

If deals such as this interest you, please visit Shopping with Teri on a regular basis, because this is where I'll now be posting deals like this instead of emailing them out whenever I get them.

Shopping With Teri - You Snooze You Lose

I tend to get a lot of emails about sales and events going on in the Ottawa region. So with a friends suggestion, I decided that instead of overloading Teri's Stories with info on deals around town and super fun events, I would start this new blog Shopping With Teri - You Snooze You Lose.

Please enjoy! :)

Back Pain :(

A lot of you have heard me complain about my back pain lately, and those that know me from back in the day remember my really really bad cramps….

Guess I should post a general warning before I continue.

*** PG 13 – the following post is about ‘girl stuff’ – if you get queasy talking about tampons and such, please stop reading ***

So yeah, I was diagnosed with endometriosis back in 2nd year (1999), had surgery, some of the growths lazered off, and was put on depo provera. This probably all sounds odd, so if you are interested please read on.

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue that looks and acts like the lining of the uterus grows outside of the uterus in other areas. These areas can be called growths, tumours, implants, lesions, or nodules.

Pain is one of the most common symptoms of endometriosis. Usually the pain is in the abdomen, lower back, and pelvis. The amount of pain a woman feels does not depend on how much endometriosis she has. Some women have no pain, even though their disease affects large areas. Other women with endometriosis have severe pain even though they have only a few small growths. The pain often correlates to the menstrual cycle, but a woman with endometriosis may also experience pain that doesn’t correlate to her cycle. For many women, the pain of endometriosis is so severe and debilitating that it impacts their lives in significant ways.

Endometriosis can also cause scar tissue and adhesions to develop that can distort a woman’s internal anatomy. In advanced stages, internal organs may fuse together, causing a condition known as a "frozen pelvis." (How creepy does that sound!!!) It is estimated that 30-40% of women with endometriosis are infertile.

Now jumping back to depo provera. This is ‘the needle’. Depo-Provera is a contraceptive or birth control product which is injected every 3 months. This drug is very controversial due to the bone density loss that may be irreversible. But for now I’ll take bone loss over growths, tumours, implants, lesions, or nodules any day. Especially b/c when your on Depo you don’t’ get a period! Woo hoo!

I was on Danazol for a while to combat the back pain associated with the endometriosis, but didn’t want that to become a long term solution (there are some SCARY side effects when you start taking steroids– she says in her manly voice haha). The main reason I went off Danazol though was because I plan to join the Canadian Bobsled Team, and as Ben Johnson showed us, danazol has no place in the Olympics.

And that is why my back hurts.

Breakfast Pita's

I have a new found love for breakfast pitas. I just had one for lunch (with my spinach salad) toasted with a little magarine on it. and i must say YUMMY - although not as good as the beef at the wine and food... but you can't have beef everyday (or could you....???)

For more info on Breakfast Pitas please visit their website www.pitabreak.com

Moo

Today I went over to Carolyn and Rob’s place and not only did I score an amazing dinner, but I also got to go visit the COWS!!! I’m sure most of you are confused by my fascination with cows, and probably think that I’m just BS’g you all, but really… I think cows are great! Not just for the leather, the meat and the chocolate milk, but look how cute they are!!! This was just the best day! I went shopping (fabulous deals at la vie en rose!), and visited not one farm, but two farms!

The first picture is me and Teri Cow. She is around 1 and a half right now. She has dark brown hair and little horns that will grow a bit more.

The next picture is me and the baby cows. This cow is around 2 weeks old and SOOO CUTE!!! Teri Cow sooo cute, but I also have a weakness for baby Holsteins.

After visiting the cows, I didn't even care that i smelled like a farm!

Drinks drinks and more drinks - and some beef

Today was a busy day in the world of Teri. Started out with sleeping till 12:00… then some wine and food at the Congress Centre. What can I say??? Drunk by 1:30 and HAMMMMMEERRED by oh, 2:00. I give a huge shout out to the Alberta Beef! Not much else to say about wine and food show, I was on a mission to find the best boxed wine… and have some front runners that I shall test out at some house parties.

The interesting story is from when I got home (still feeling the red wine) and attempt to make my kraft dinner. All was going well, till I realized I forgot about it in the kitchen… so I go in and notice that instead of cooking my KD I’m burning a hole through the cookie sheet. SMOOOTH Teri!! Smooth! But that worked out, and I got some KD to soak up the wine so that I could move onto drinking part two of the evening! :) :)

MONDAY’S GRACE!!!!!

I have written about them before, but I still stand by the fact that they are great. Went downtown with Shannon and Greg, met some friends and some new people. Lots of good times and great dancing (give me some red bull vodka’s and I’m a MACHINE!)

However… there were a few problems encountered in the evening.

  1. Shannon and I almost got into a fight with these two B!che$. stupid 19 year olds flipping their hair on me, stepping on our feet. For gods sake the dance floor was almost empty, we were standing on the side and there was TONNES of room in front of them… sooooo we may have gotten into a ‘heated discussion’… ending with them running to tell their boyfriends how horrible we were… WHATEVER we were there with the BAND! - - Shannon, next time we’ll take them!!!
  2. Then there was this horrible girl who was poking and making fun of this handicapped man who was taking a quick nap while his two friends danced!!! (I yelled at her!!!)
  3. The fashion problems are ENDLESS from this evening!!! The most important thing to mention is the girl who was wearing a white eyelet mini skirt!!! (she obviously thought that she should wear her white flowered skirt in honour of the snowfall we had today!

PS - I got to carry a piece of the drums to the car tonight… (good thing Greg didn’t know about the Kraft dinner incident, or else he may not have trusted drunk Teri with such an item!)

PPS - going to see Teri Cow tomorrow!!!!! and to the 50% off sale at la vie en rose!!! Can't wait!

The Great Canadian Cabin and the Secret Entrance

sooo on Thursday i went to the Cabin for country music and cheap rye night. I had a great time, once I figured out where the bar was. You may think this would be an easy task considering I’ve been a frequent drinker at the establishment for over 8 years, but this was not the case.

we truck on up to the front door, pull on the door a few times to discover its locked (of course no one outside bothers saying anything to us so we look wicked cool all confused). We ask someone smoking whats going on and turns out that the entrance is now on the side...

so we walk back down dalhousie, past the money mart - and back to this canopy - - which we had just walked by and were loudly saying "wow, wonder what bar this is?" (of course neither of the bouncers says 'this is the cabin').

so yeah... new look... new music and new entrance..(NO SIGN!)

And the new set up is like a holding take. You are ushered into the bar thinking… great there is only a 40 min line up. You get inside, then realize there is ANOTHER line inside to go upstairs. But at least you can drink, and at least you aren’t outside in –40 weather.

So my advice for you - - beware of the secret hidden line and don’t lose your friends on a different floor. Oh and if you are 19 keep going to the cabin on Fridays and Saturdays (simply b/c I don’t want you at my regular bars)… - - but that is for the NEXT blog entry!!!!

Subject: English will be the official language of the European Union

Got this from my mom today and thought it was funny and worth sharing.

*********************

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5 year phase-in plan that would become known as "Euro-English".

In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of "k". This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter.
There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible.
Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters, which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling.

Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent "e" in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.

By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th"
with "z" and "w" with "v".

During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensi bl riten styl.

Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru.

Un defter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forst plas.

ps - today i am wearing my comfortable hush puppy suede boots.

Please explain how this is "odd"

http://news.yahoo.com/

Check out the last entry under 'odd news' - - do you find it odd that Canada doesn't want the pedofile to live here when the choice is "go to Canada for 3 years, or live in jail here in the US" - - if hes not safe for their streets, why would he be safe for ours? AND WHY IS THIS CLASSIFIED AS ODD NEWS?!?!? unless the writer actually agrees with Canada, and thinks that its odd that a Judge could hand down a sentence sooo ridiculous!

Who Wears Crocs????? - - ITS ME ITS ME!!!

Perhaps what they say about the air in Vancouver is true???? YES this is me wearing crocs… and yes, that is a smile on my face… but perhaps it has something to do with all that clean air in Vancouver, or the plastic from the ugly shoes had somehow gotten into my bloodstream and was confusing me… either way… check out the teal crocs… and look they even have a Jibbitz on them!!!

NO – I did NOT buy crocs while there. My sister emailed me right away when she saw the picture horrified that I had gone to the dark side. Kim – have no fear, I have not become some incense burning, plastic shoe wearing granola cruncher (to those of you who are, that’s totally ok by me, just you prob won’t become best buds with me or my sis…buds maybe, but prob not best buds… its aaah, cuz of our allergies to incense... ya that’s right. So Kim when you come home from Australia, I will still be prancing around town in my leather coat, stilettos and other faaaabulous articles of clothing!

Winter White... indeed!

I have found a pair of white boots that even I would wear in the winter - - (friends/family I hope you agree with me on this pair...but if not... thats ok too...)

These were on Shoewawa this week... and I have to say. they are really really nice!! and would def not count in the inapropriate footwear count... b/c they are NOT white strappy sandals or flip flops... (which i have to mention are not ok in ANY colour now that its almost november, and we have had our first snow fall!)

Computers, Music and Mullets... what a Friday...

Today our internet went down at work, so our computer expert had to fix the problem - - (that would me ME!!!) ..... ..... .... .....

sorry was giving those of you who knew me time to stop laughing... YES I AM the computer expert :) I even had on my computer expert 'outfit' today - - NAH!!! who am i kidding, i don't own any 'computery outfits'... so I had to figure out what was wrong and fix it. I called Magma, talked to them a few times, figured out which black plastic box was infact our modem, drew a picture of what lights were on, what colour they were, what ones were flashing, etc... and relayed this info to my fellow computer expert at magma... only to find out that it wasn't a problem that could be fixed that easily. So i drove out to Primus (during rush hour) to get a new modem... then back to work (still in rush hour)... only to find that this STILL wasn't fixing the problem... so we are out internet till monday when bell can come figure out what is wrong...

After this i went to pottery, where i glazed and glazed and glazed. I worked solid from 6-9:50 when it was def time to go. Met up with my friend Shannon, and proceeded onto Gracies to meet up with other people... to see MONDAY'S GRACE! You may remember them from my blog a few weeks ago. fabulous coverband. I'm even more biased now b/c not only did they dedicate a song to me... but i'm going to be their new webmaster - - me... being a computer expert and all... whatever, its already technically 'created'... so all i have to do is the fun part, keep it updated and looking great! now THAT i can do! Stay tuned for more information on Monday's Grace. For show details check them out on MySpace.com

I also feel the need to bring up the shoe thing again, b/c the crime is still being committed... there were WHITE FLIP FLOPS at the bar, and not just any bar, a bar with BLACK LIGHT!!! yes, my dear, there was no use pretending you wern't wearing flip flops in late october (but don't worry, no one judged - - outloud!)

But i have to say, i was more taken by the mullet ladies... :) Christina tried to take a picture of them, but her camera phone just wasn't able to capture the full essence ... and we figured that cougars with lions manes had to come equiped with claws.. so we didn't want to anger them... we were there with some boys that could have fallen prey. - that being said, i still have a little obsession mullets, Mullets make me smile ... here is a mullet poem - i tried to find a good picture of femullet, but came across the poem instead, and had to share.

This poem is dedicated to my friend Erin, who will hopefully include a great mullet website in her comment, and my friend Jason who used to own a mullet of his own.

"Mullets Are Great"

Mullets are great,
No one could hate.
You see them at the county fair,
With their long and short greasy hair.
Red necks grow mullets for fun,
All of their kids have one.
I once saw a man with a mullet,
And in his head was a bullet.
Who could of done something so bad,
After all - mullets are a great fad.
I wish I had a mullet,
I would never cut it.
I would let it grow nice and long,
So many people grow them wrong.
Maybe some day you will see me in the hall,
I will have the greatest mullet of all!!

Today's story is about nothing....

yeah, thats right nothing. b/c that is what I've been up to. nothing. I slept for 13 hours last night... and feel a bit better, but am still quite phlegmy (who knew phlegm had a silent 'G'?) . So I will probably be sick again tomorrow (I was told to keep my germs at home...)

I found spinach at the grocery store yesterday! FINALLY! I have been going through a spinach withdrawal ever since the big health scare.

My sister comes home soon! I can't wait! she has been gone for a year. I'm sure most of you remember the 5-6 going away parties we had for her! lol... How could one girl have so many going away events... Who knows!! lol. but us ryerson gal's - - we like to party, we like, we like to party (pronounce like the Vengaboys CLASSIC from the 90's!!!)

The job search is on... for info on this if you care, please ask... I just don't' really want to blog about all that just yet... some things are meant for blogging, Shoes, ugly clothes, cows... others are left for emails... job hunt, talking (aka gossip), planning events.... etc.

sorry no pictures today!!!

over and out!! (did I ever tell you the story of my walkie talkies that my brother hid in his cardboard spaceship that my mom threw out :( :( I think of them whenever I hear 'over and out')

so instead I will just say "BYE!"

Contraption or Footwear? You be the judge...

I tried to keep the shoe blogs to a minimum, but then realized that I just couldn't sensor my blog like that... I felt that it was holding me back from informing you of the gorgeous shoes and the hideous shoes (this is the worst yet!!!) ... Things like this shouldn't be kept to yourself, they should be shared... people need to be informed... and WARNED!!!

I saw these in a magazine last month and was horrified. I think this boot/shoe contraption is definitely a... what would it be called??? oh I know A PROBLEM! Just because it is cold in parts of Canada, doesn't give people the right to trudge around in ugly footwear. as one friend pointed out... it wouldn't be so bad if the padded removable part was eliminated, and the shoe pattern was continued... BUT as it stands, it is simply ugly - a puma shoe with a rubber boot flare and a removable puffy vest wrapped around it.

I was so taken aback by this contraption known as footwear that I had to email the http://www.shoewawa.com/ staff to let them know that these are being produced!!!

shoewawa

so i've definitely been reading shoewawa too long. i just logged in to see what i've missed this week and guess which shoe was "ugly shoe of the week"? yep... the Georgie!

see below for another shoe obsessed girl's opinion on the matter....

Ugly Shoe Of The Week
They're multiplying! We just can't get away from Crocs, no matter how hard we try. In Vegas my friend and I were on constant Croc-watch, spying them on men and women alike...some people even wore socks with them. I thought it couldn't get any worse...
But it can. Now there's a boot version, and it comes in fluorescent yellow (among other colours). Ladies and gents, this must STOP. Just. Say. No!

Daily Dancer

This definately required a blog entry. I laughed sooo hard when i saw it. I was telling Alana (sister in-law) about my blog, and she mentioned her friend's friend "The Daily Dancer" - - this def caught my attention... a dorky guy that dances everyday infront of a camera and then blogs about it!!! soooo entertaining... and i def couldn't pass up the opportunity to share this with people.

The following is an article in a vancouver newspaper about the daily dancer. You absolutely have to check out this site!!!

VANCOUVER -- The Internet has made many strange celebrities over the years, and now a Vancouver man is quickly discovering what it's like to become famous overnight.
Darrell Lahey, 28, is an admittedly geeky looking software developer with a secret passion for dancing.

In Christmas 2004, his girlfriend captured him boogying to some grooves on her digital camera. A few days later, she showed it to her brother, who thought it could be a web hit. He was right. Someone linked the video to a Norwegian website, which then got linked to another website and on and on it went. And so, the Daily Dancer was born.In its first three weeks, Dailydancer.com registered 87,000 hits, and now averages up to 2,000 hits a day.

His routines, often consisting of flailing arms and kicking feet, were initially updated with a new posts everyday -- but has since been reduced to three times a week because the daily routine was simply too much work.

Dancing in his living room, he uses brooms, vacuum cleaners -- and an ever-present blue execrise ball -- as props. His girlfriend's mother makes guest appearances. Songs include “My Humps” by the Black Eyed Peas, Aqua’s “Barbie Girl," and Styx’s “Mr. Roboto.”

Best Product EVER!!!!

now that i have your attention... i must tell you - - i was being sarcastic, and this is another blog about footwear...

The other day at my friend Liz's place i discovered that not only are people buying crocs left right and centre... but they have also started accessorizing for their crocs with things called Jibbitz, these are little plastic charms that can be inserted into the holes on the croc. I searched high and low for some Jibbitz for my friend, but have not yet succeeded... perhaps tomorrow I will locate some. See below for the picture of pink crocs with some pretty jibbitz sprucing them up a bit.

While looking online for jibbitz retailers i came across another unfortunate style of footware - - and i must say, i think I may hate them more than regular crocs... (well now that i know you can accessorize your crocs my heart has softened a bit for them). Check them out below - - they are known as Georgies. The following is an excert from www.crocs.com "the georgie is crocs first boot. waterproof, extremely light, and very colorful, the georgie is perfect footwear for a walk in the rain" - - I still prefer my pink rubber boots... but I’m sure there will be people that like the Georgie.

I am still alive and kicking...

I'm still alive and kicking, i'm just on vacation from everything!!! :) and loving it!

I left last wednesday for Vancouver and havn't looked back. I have been enjoying the sun (hasn't rained yet - -well it did one morning. but i wasn't out of bed yet, so that doesn't count). I got TWO turkey dinners (new favourite thing in life - yams! yummy!!!)

I have done some SERIOUS shopping, got my black stilletos that i've wanted for some time, among MANY other things. Bought new skis!!! (camp fortune here i come!)

Went and saw Body Worlds 3 - - where they plasticize dead bodies. VERY cool. But i felt totally gyped b/c they took out all the controversial things that were included in the Toronto exhibit, so it was 1/2 the size (but still charged the same).

I have managed to see almost ALL my people out in vancouver (couple more to go) ... and seeing you all has def made me realize how much i've missed you all!!! (you know who you are so no need for personal shout outs...). I could def make vancouver my home...

Tonight i put some time into creating a new website to post pictures of my art. I have 4 upcoming art shows/exhibits before xmas... so needed to get that started. Take a look and tell me what you think - http://terianne.wetpaint.com - please keep in mind that this is a rough draft and i'm working with limited pictures and software here.

Off to bed...

Goodnight and sweet dreams!

Work Funcshhtionsss - -with a slur…

Sunday night HAL’s social committee (which consists of Kim and I) organized a fabulous company event. Our company and a few guests arrived at Beckta Dining and Wine for our wine and cheese tasting around 8. I have been here once before for Miranda and Paul's wedding, and both times I was quite pleased with everything (both times i was also drunk though... hmmm coincident. no, seriously, great times, great food!)

I never new how tipsy you could get from a wine tasting. OR that cheese could actually be banned from public transit! But yes, both those are true stories. I tasted 4 wines… and was definitely a tad drunk. And the cheese YUMMY!!! Well except this one called Epoisses – the one that banned from Public Transit in France once it has been opened. Now common… really, who would want to try a cheese that smells soooo bad that it’s actually not allowed on buses or subways (if you don't believe me - check it out)??? Well going back to the first point in this paragraph, I was tipsy, so I braved it. And yep, tasted just like it smelled … GROSS and raunchy! (Check out the picture of making cheese! cool eh!)

I did discover some new yummy wines though!
1. Sancerre, Cherrier Pere & Fils, Loire 2004
2. Tokay Pinot Gris, Paul Zinc, Alsace 2004
3. Zinfandel “Elsbree Vineyard” Crane Canyon, Russian River Valley 2000
4. Vouvray “Moelleux-Le Haut Lieu” Huet, Loire Valley 2003.

And there was a cheddar cheese that looked and tasted like kraft dinner! Also very good. But prob not something I would mention to the staff at Beckta.
I would also like to point out that I took the bus AGAIN!!!! Yep, twice on Sunday!!!! And again, not too bad. I am a huge fan of the #3 bus route, I have discovered that not only does it go to the rideau centre, but it goes to the market, elgin street, preston street and bank street!!! What more could you ask for in a bus route??? - - perhaps a ban on crazies in jogging pants!!! But that’s a whole other blog!

PS - I would like to point out that no cow was harmed in making this blog!

An Evening with great music and BAD SHOES

I have had a fabulous weekend. Got to sleep in both days!!! And didn't have to go out of town at all!!! it was nice!

I went to see an AWESOME Monday's Grace last night (i did a stop by on friday too - ended up staying till close - what can i say, they make you want to get your groove on). They played this weekend at Hooley's, not to be confused with Houlihans, sorry folks, that place is long gone. Hooley's is on elgin where Bravo Bravo used to be. Back to Monday's Grace, I may be a tad biased b/c my good friend Shannon's husband Greg is the drummer (greg if you are reading this, no worries, you are my friend too!). i have gotten to know them all, but i would like to point out that i am not a "groupie" i am "friend's with the band" - (they cleared the difference up for me last night) .

Now for the second part of the story... Footwear. First i must say that i have found a shoe that actually creeps me out. This shoe is worse than crocs by far!!! This guy was dancing and i loved over and he had shoes that had a spot for his big toe!!! and no, they weren't socks or slippers, they had a sole. they were VERY VERY ODD! the next footwear issue involved white shoes...

LADIES PLEASE! what are you thinking??? someone once said to me that its not nice to make fun out outfits b/c some people just "don't know better". Well i am hear to inform the uninformed... white shoes, and sandals are for the summer, once it is cold enough for a coat check, scarves, or a hat... it is too cold for sandals. and the white shoes should be put away once it is fall... the general rule is labour day, but you can sometimes stretch this a week, MAYBE two.

My friend Dan has a blog and he counts hot cars - i will use this idea, but will count white shoes. This does not include runners, or those puma style shoes. Simply white pumps, white flip flops, white sandals etc. so from last night... the count was..... SIX. hopefully as the weeks pass this number will go down. In November I will add sandals of any colour to this mix... but for now, lets concentrate on getting those white shoes into storage for the winter.

INAPPROPRIATE FOOT WEAR COUNT:

PS- i took the bus last night. it was quite enjoyable. my friends Jamie and Kim were at the bus stop when i got there, so they cleared up the whole "how to use a transfer". and then I saw my friend Jen on the bus too. I may think about taking the good ol OC a little more. (i won't get carried away and get a bus pass or anything...)

Holmes on Homes

Some of you already know my sad obsession with Mike Holmes... I can't help it, a man with a tool belt that fixes houses, that is SEXY! The only thing better is a man in a suit. I have become obsessed with this tv show. I now know all about building a deck "to code", how to put in kitchen cabinets, what should be vented to where... its SAD! BUT thats not the point of this story... the point is... My cousin's wife works for Nestle and Mike is the new face for Nestle!!! and she is going to get me a big lifesize poster board of him! yeah, i'm a loser, but your a loser b/c your still reading about how dreamy i think mike holmes is! :) :) so we're even!!!

Another thing from the weekend, my cousin owns crocs... and apparently he is going to fix the family xmas pool so that he gets me and he plans to buy me crocs, but not just any old pair of crocs, he plans to buy me FAKE crocs! I will have to get back to you on that one!!!

Stay tuned!

Stories from today...

Hey everyone! :) :) welcome back to those of you still finding this blog worthwhile and interesting.

Today's blog will not really have any specific theme, its instead going to be scattered all over the place b/c thats how i have been feeling lately.... like a scatterbrain.

First i have to say how much i loved the new show Ugly Betty. It was Fabulous! This season has some great shows. As suspected Top Model makes the list of favs. My top 4 for ANTM are currently the twins, the punk rock girl and brooke. But its still early, so we'll see if that changes.

My inner thighs hurt - - MIND OUT OF GUTTER - - its from the gym. now that soccer coaching is over for the winter, I have gotten back into the gym thing more regularly, and well that "thigh compressor machine thing" - - definately worked!!!

And speaking of the gym. I had some of my jeans tailored, my sister recommended stich-it at bayshore, and i picked up my jeans and they did a great job! they did little darts at the back to take in the waist. they look great! will def sport a pair of those out on Elgin street this weekend for Tanya's Bday.

I tried to post this wicked dancing cartoon cow movie clip today... but i wasn't sure how to do it :( so you'll have to make due with this boring blog for today.

What a waste of good weed!

My friend Allan brought this article to my attention. And since I just went to a polish wedding, (and b/c its about a cow) I thought it was blog-worthy. I don't know the correct spelling but i do know that "weed" in Polish is "trava". This is a word that Dominik and I thought was important to learn when he was teaching me key phrases and words back in university. Anyways... here is the article about a Polish lady that was getting her cows high in order to calm their nerves.

Ganja cowWARSAW, (Reuters) - A Polish woman who grew marijuana to calm the nerves of her cow has been charged with cultivating a narcotic by police in the western town of Lobez.

The cow had been "skittish and unruly" -- once breaking a person's arm -- until someone suggested mixing cannabis in with its feed, the woman told police.

"The cow became as calm as a lamb," the 55-year-old woman said, according to the PAP news agency.

The woman's plants, grown from seeds she bought at a market, reached nearly three metres (yards) tall and were extremely potent, police said.

Marijuana (ganja) possession is a crime throughout Poland. The woman faces up to three years in jail if convicted.

Kidney Failure

This posting is a bit more serious than my past posts. But I wanted to share this Radio Interview with you. My co-worker’s wife was on 580 CFRA this morning talking about her experience with kidney disease. She has had 4 transplants since 1979 all because of a case of strep throat. My Great Uncle has also spent many years on dialysis waiting for a new kidney, his problems were caused by diabetes, and he is losing his battle. Anyways, check out the interview if you’re interested. For more info on the Kidney Foundation please visit their website www.kidney.ca.

My friend Dan...

Today's first story is about Dan (i have a few stories... will tell them later, and get onto discussing the comments). Some of you know my friend Dan (in the picture with me and my sis)... he is a fun guy, met him in highschool... think he was in my art class, or maybe Terry was in my art class and dan was just a drifter that hung out in our class... not totally sure, but anyways... dan is my friend, he was my prom date, and I will be visiting him (and tonnes of other peeps) out in Vancouver NEXT WEEK!!!!!... but that is not the story... the story is about drunk dialing..... you know what i'm talking about.... drunk phone calls at ungodly hours.

WELL, big shout out to my buddy who decided to drunk dial me at 5:45 on saturday morning... usually you would say friday night, but since it was soooo close to morning i think its safe to say 'morning '.

It was an entertaining call though (dan - you were a few days late on the 'talk like a pirate day'... but i do appreciate the attempt!).

My question for people is, how many of you drunk dial? any great stories to comment on? I myself am a drunk dialer... I was notorious for this back in the day (my appolagies to ian who probably got it the worst), it has calmed down a bit... however, i do miss those days, perhaps i'll do a little drunk dial revival this weekend... we'll see. It is a bday night on saturday, and i think tanya, the bday girl, and I will be able to think of someone to call after the bar.

till later... ... I have a pirate video to post, a story about a polish lady that gave her cows weed, and of course the skinny jeans that i promised to talk about.

Teri Anne :) :)

Special Request Thursdays......

oooooooooooooooohhhh the mystery.... what is Specail Request Thursdays???

Well, its a new thing that i thought of tonight b/c I am too tired to stay up and watch my tv shows i taped while out for Brad's bday celebration. So instead of me writing about Amercia's Next Top Model (dan you watching this season?), or Laguna Beach... i thought i'd throw the ball to my trusty readers.

Feel free to post a comment with some topics of interest. IF i think they are 'blog worthy' i will do some research (my close friends all know how much i love to 'google') and post some information for all to enjoy.

G'night, me and my hurtin teeth are going to bed early.

~Teri Anne~

ps - I read today that a man bit a panda bear at a zoo in China, but the bear deserved it... the bear bit the drunk man who had climbed the fence to try and hug the panda.

pps - Also read about the first penis transplant... but they had to remove it b/c the man suffered some psychological problems... (friends/family... don't worry, i don't think i'd consider donating your penis if you were in a coma, your heart, kidneys... perhaps... but not your penis... you can take that with you).

ok, now i'm really going to bed.

ALL I really want is new shoes!!! - stupid teeth

As some of you may know, I had to go to the dentist yesturday. I am TERRIFIED of the dentist. I know most people say "oh its not so bad, i love how my teeth feel". Well, perhaps that would be all fine and dandy, if it didn't take a tonne of crying and excruciating pain to get to the 'nice feeling'.

Well good news is that I don't have a cavity and my gums are not rotting in my mouth... but there is still that pain to account for.... I have apparently ground down my teeth so much while i'm sleeping in the past few months that i have to buy a 500$ mouth guard thing... (that isn't fully covered by insurance... well some will be, but not even close to all of it). Its so bad you can feel grooves on the inside of the front teeth. no wonder they hurt so much. And the pain that i thought was my gums, was just my cheeck muscles b/c i was clenching my face so much. and giving myself tension headaches too... FABULOUS!!! new skis... mouth guard... new skis... mouth gaurd... AND ALL I really want is new shoes!!! :) :) haha

Arr, me hearty, its Talk Like a Pirate Day

I got an email last night about Talk Like a Pirate Day, so I just HAD to investigate... This is what i found and felt that it was important to share with everyone.

International Talk Like A Pirate Day began in the mists of the 1990s, when two Yankees, John Baur (Ol' Chum Bucket) and Mark Summers (Cap'n Slappy), be talkin' like pirates all o'a sudden. They decided that, to further the noble causes of the sweet trade of piracy, September 19 each year be the day when all souls over the world should be talkin' like pirates.

How To Be Speakin' Pirate-Like

Startin' Rules

Double up on all your adjectives and you'll be bountifully bombastic with your phrasing. Pirates never speak of "a big ship", they call it a "great, grand ship!" They never say never, they say "No nay ne'er!"

Drop all your "g"'s when you speak and you'll get words like "rowin'", "sailin'" and "fightin'". Dropping all of your "v"'s will get you words like
"ne'er", "e'er" and "o'er".

Instead of saying "I am", sailors say, "I be". Instead of saying "You are", sailors say, "You be". Instead of saying, "They are", sailors say, "They be". Ne'er speak in anythin' but the present tense!

Hints an' Tips

If it be helpin', start yer sentence wi' a "Arr, me hearty," in a deep, throaty voice — ye'll find that the rest be comin' much easier.

Vocabulary

In which ye'll find words submitted by many pirates o'er the years, an' which comprise a loose piratical dictionary.

i will write something entertaining later today... right now i'm just consumed by the thought of going to the dentist tomorrow = must say, i've been hit by a car before, and i'd much rather experience that then go to the dentist. At least when you are hit by a car people buy you presents!

FDA Warning About Tainted Spinach

Federal health officials worked Friday to find the source of a multistate E. coli outbreak and warned consumers that even washing the suspect spinach won't kill the sometimes deadly bacteria.
One person died and dozens of others were sickened in the eight-state outbreak, linked by Food and Drug Administration officials to bagged spinach.

Today's Special is..... COWS

So, lets get right to today’s story… Cows. And why cows you might ask? Well for those of you who know me, know that I LOVE cows. I mean, what other animal can be eaten, worn, and drank???

This is a picture of Teri – Cow. Yes, I love cow’s so much that my awesome friend’s Carolyn and Rob named their first female baby cow after me! Some may take this as an insult, but I was so thrilled! (and no, Teri-Cow is NOT a beef cow… she is a breeding cow - hee hee).

Cow Facts:

· Cows have accents
· Cow in Australia is getting an artificial leg
· Swiss cows are scary – they attack people that try to hug them (stupid people, why would you hug a cow???)
· A bull’s penis is in the middle of his stomach near his belly button. This is b/c they have little penis’ and are not very agile, so for it to do it’s job, this is where it must be located. (I have no link for this, but my friend drew me a diagram at a party once. And he is a cow expert.)

All of these cow facts came from reputable sources... If you don't believe me I can send you the links.

PS - this story is in PURPLE b/c when i was four i wanted to be a purple cow when i grew up.
PPS - I hope this blog entry brought rays of sunshine to your day!

The Story about the ugly shoe

There once was a shoe... and it was SOOOO ugly (not like dolphins - they are cute!). These ugly plastic shoes are better known as Crocs.... And you ALL know what i'm talking about.

Now I must ask... WHY?? Why would you buy such an ugly shoe?

Whenever I talk about crocs and how ugly they are, all i hear from people are "Oh but I hear they are very comfortable". What do i have to say to that? Well... you don't see me wearing my pajammas to work, or sweatpants and runners to a wedding or a fancy restaurant! I will admit that there is a market for crocs... cottages, beaches, gardens...and any other non-public place.

I would also like to point out that I am not alone on these thoughts. Shoewawa readers voted Crocs as the Ugly Shoe of 2005! (not only are we Canadian's wearing ugly crocs, but we are apparently wearing them after europeans have already deamed them ugly).

And that is the story of the ugly shoe... stay tuned for more Fashion "problems"... perhaps next topic will be these skinny jeans...

CSA... for once I love you!

YAY, for once the CSA isn't a thorn in my side :) :) we got a 2 week extension on this HUGE proposal (that we havn't really started i may add). Here i was mentally preparing for a horrible drive to the Space Agency in Saint Hubert (past MTL) next wednesday.

And even if we procrastinate a bit more, still won't be me driving it! b/c i leave for Vancouver on the 4th!!! :) some other sucker can do that!!!

My boss wanted to kiss me when I told him about the extension - - i ran away...

Welcome to Teri's Stories

Welcome to my blog. I figured that since i ALWAYS have something interesting to say i should probably start a blog so that everyone can share in my stories...

so here it goes...
